Lake Sunapee

Sunapee is the quiet alternative to Winnipesaukee — around ten square miles of clear, deep water in western New Hampshire, with far less traffic and a shoreline that stays largely wooded.

Sunapee Harbor at the north end is the centre of activity; Newbury at the south end is the other access. Service and fuel are limited compared to the big lake, so it is worth knowing where the pumps are before a long day out.

Short season, cold water, and a boating culture that skews smaller and slower than Winnipesaukee's.
