Rangeley Lake

Rangeley sits high in western Maine's mountains, part of a chain that runs through Mooselookmeguntic and the Richardsons, and it is cold, clear and thin on services by design.

Oquossoc at the western end and Rangeley village at the eastern end are the two access points and hold what fuel and service there is. Everything else is shoreline.

The season is the shortest of any water here — the lake is at elevation, ice goes out late, and the useful window is essentially June through September. This is fishing and small-boat water, and it has been for a century and a half.
