Portland

Portland is the deepest, best-served harbour in Maine and the one place on the coast where a large boat can arrive without a plan and still find fuel, a slip and someone to fix things. The waterfront runs from the Fore River up past the Old Port, mixing working piers, ferry berths and marina dockage in a small space.

It is also a genuine city harbour: commercial traffic, a busy ferry schedule, and current in the Fore River. Arrive on VHF rather than on spec.
