Long Lake
Long Lake runs about eleven miles north from the Naples causeway to Harrison, and together with Brandy Pond and the Songo River it forms the navigable northern half of the Sebago system. It is narrower and more sheltered than Sebago, which makes it the friendlier of the two for a small boat.
Naples is the working centre: the causeway between Long Lake and Brandy Pond puts several marinas within a mile of each other, and it is the only real concentration of fuel and service on this half of the system. Bridgton anchors the north end.
Traffic is dense and slow near the causeway and thins out quickly heading north. Boats moving through to Sebago pass the hand-cranked Songo Lock — figure on an hour from open water to open water, and expect a line on July weekends.
